Associate Creative Director
The Associate Creative Director is a highly skilled and talented designer whose level of expertise has elevated beyond the ability to design and develop compelling and engaging creative, contribute extensively to concepting sessions and direct photo shoots to communicate the clients’ marketing message. The Associate Creative Director shows a passion for smart and strategic creative solutions within a specialized field, and expresses leadership by promoting it.
Essential Job Functions
• Contribute to the assigned team by presenting smart, strategic ideas and distinctive creative solutions
• Provide guidance and critique less experienced creatives work and offer opinions, suggestions and insights to co-workers, as a member of the Creative Leadership Team
• Develop expertise in a specialized field of creative solutions and be the go-to person on the subject; go the extra mile to study that specialty, gather samples and stay up-to-date on that field of expertise
• Act as the authority in the principles of design, working with illustration, photography, icons, typography and color theory
• Occasionally step in and lead a project when a Creative Director is unavailable
• Work in tandem with a copywriter to develop copy that meets the marketing objectives and enhances the design message
• Celebrate a variety of creative styles and possess the resources to utilize them
Basic Job Qualifications: Skills and Abilities
• Strong understanding of the brand, its marketing strategies, and the clients’ industry
• Must feel comfortable presenting ideas and strategic creative solutions to teammates and clients, with clear rationale behind his or her design decisions
• Must be accurate to specifications, true to deadlines under pressure, helpful in attitude, and resilient in the face of ever-changing client demands
• Maintain current knowledge of creative software, current design trends and the influences of popular culture
Education / Experience / Training
• 8+ years work experience in field
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design Art or a related field preferred
• Knowledge of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts, branding, typography and color theory
• Proficient in current CS6 Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, In-Design
• An understanding of new media, animation, sound, text and video is a plus
