Creative Director (Copywriter)
Position Overview
The Creative Director is a highly skilled and talented individual whose level of expertise goes beyond the ability to develop creative solutions but can contribute extensively to the strategic direction of our client’s brands. The Creative Director is responsible for the ultimate strategic intent, visual appeal and communicative success of each assigned project. He or she leads a team of 10 or more, offering guidance and mentoring them through the process of creative development. The CD leads concept development and brainstorming sessions, oversees strategic direction, provides and critiques visual and copy solutions, and presents the rationale for their choices effectively. This key leader inspires and motivates others to help them reach their creative potential. They direct the projects to ensure that they are completed accurately, on time and within budgetary constraints. We are currently looking for a CD that is an active copywriter with marketing savvy. The CD must know how to judge and marry the visual and copy properly for impactful communication. The Creative Director needs to show a passion for great strategic thinking, business problem solving and a relentless pursuit of breakthrough work.
Essential Job Functions
• Provide expertise in brand development and be the go-to person on the subject
• Present big/smart ideas and distinctive creative solutions through an understanding of the client’s brands, its marketing strategies, and the client’s/brands industry
• Lead the team in conceptual and strategic development, and train and guide the ADs and CWs to develop their abilities to do so as well
• Provide guidance and critique of less experienced staff, and offer opinions, suggestions and insights on their personal development
• Work in tandem with team to develop solutions that meet the marketing/project objectives
• Present conceptual ideas and designs to teammates and clients with clear rationale behind the creative solutions
• Support and assist in all areas of the creative development process on all projects for the entire office

Education/Experience/Training
• 10+ years experience
• Thorough understanding of current marketing trends and the influences of popular culture on the marketplace
• An understanding of digital and social media
• Complete understanding of the CPG Arena and key food and beverage retail channels
• Knowledge of shopper marketing strategies
• Significant experience with in-store merchandising techniques
• Thorough understanding of promotion and packaging in the CPG world
• Understanding of a broad spectrum of consumer targets
