State Stringer

Osborn & Barr (O&B), founded in 1988 with four employees and a single account, has a staff of more than 130 professionals today. We are the largest agricultural and rural focused marketing communications agency in North America with U.S. offices in St. Louis, Kansas City and Des Moines.

We know the agricultural industry inside and out. Though the company has recently celebrated its 22nd year of business, the expertise actually began long before the company opened its doors as co-founders, Joe Osborn and Steve Barr, worked in various marketing and advertising positions for Monsanto and John Deere. Since then, the agency has hired personnel who are not only experts in the marketing and branding field, but many O&B employees were either raised on or currently operate a farm. So literally, agriculture is a personal passion for us.

Qualifications

Osborn & Barr has several challenging and exciting opportunities available assisting with public relations efforts throughout the Midwestern and Southern United States. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate! The State Stringer positions will be located in our St. Louis, Mo office. Some state locations may have the option of working from a home office.

These positions will be working within the agency’s largest agriculture and crop focused Practice Group with Osborn & Barr’s largest client, Monsanto. This individual will be responsible for overseeing public relations efforts for a specific region. The Stringer is also responsible for the coordination of client projects to position client issues, products, brands and services in the marketplace.

Skills

Osborn & Barr is looking for a resourceful and creative individual with exceptional experience in public relations writing and media relations. The ideal candidates will have one to two years experience in public relations, and enthusiasm for the agriculture and rural lifestyle industries. This individual should exemplify:

-Exceptional writing and editing skills necessary to solve client issues and promote client products, services and programs;
-A solid understanding of news writing, journalism ethics and story structure;
-Outstanding skills in AP style and basic grammar and punctuation;
-Knowledge of agriculture and rural industries a plus.

Salary & Benefits-Competitive salary is offered. Salary is comparable to experience. These positions are eligible for benefits.

We have a team-focused approach and need an individual who values their team to help us accomplish our client and agency goals. We work hard (and play hard). If you have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever changing environment, we would like to meet you.
