Switch Sells Ugly Holiday Sweater T-Shirts for Charity - 100% of sales to benefit Animal Protective Association of Missouri
In the planning for 2011, the Switchmas committee took note of two key cultural phenomena: t-shirts for every occasion and the ugly holiday sweater party. The team basically said, “OK, how can we combine these two factors into a win for our cause while helping the sweater-less guarantee style success at their holiday events? …. thus www.uglyholidaysweatertees.com was born.
UglyHolidaySweaterTees.com will offer t-shirts screen-printed with custom ugly holiday sweater designs with 100% of the proceeds — that’s at least $20 for every shirt sold — going directly to the Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA). The APA (www.apamo.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people and pets together, advancing humane education and creating programs beneficial to the human/animal bond. Through the support of the community, the APA is able to provide the following services: shelter and care for homeless dogs and cats; adoption services; veterinary clinic; lost and found assistance; and education and outreach.
UglyHolidaySweaterTees.com will feature six different sweater tee designs available for purchase beginning Nov. 23 and running through the holidays. Each American Apparel- and Canvas-brand t-shirt will be available for a donation to the APA for $20, which includes FedEx 2-day shipping charges to the buyer. Five of the t-shirt designs are the creation of Switch art directors, with another design by nationally renowned t-shirt artist Dustin Amery Hostetler, aka UPSO. Each of the designs plays off the uniquely colorful and festive nature of holiday sweaters with themes like “Extreme Christmas,” “Going, Going, Gone Beer Mug,” and “A Very Chanukah Christmas” among others. All of the Ugly Holiday Sweater Tees will be available in supersoft men’s and women’s cuts in sizes S, M, L and XL.
“Basically for a $20 donation to the APA, Switch will expedite a festive ugly holiday sweater tee to your doorstep. Yeah, we’re pretty excited about that…we feel great about it. The designs are cool and I can’t imagine a person out there who doesn’t want to support our four-legged friends,” said Andrew Mullins, Switch Agency Brand Manager. “Plus, ugly sweaters from thrift stores kind of smell.”
Steve Kaufman, Executive Director at the APA of Missouri said Switch’s donation will be used to help care for the 4,000 stray and surrendered pets that come to the APA each year. “As a non-profit organization, we rely on support from the community to help bring people and pets together,” says Kaufman.
The APA will also be selling the ugly holiday sweater tees at the following events/locations:
· Holiday Magic at the Edward Jones Dome on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4.
· Petacular Holiday Bazaar at Purina Farms Event Center on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.
For the past three years, Switch has sponsored their “Switchmas” holiday charity promotion. In 2010, Switch donated $16,382 to Independence Center of St. Louis and in 2009 gave away nearly $10,000 worth of gifts and charitable contributions to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
