Tonight the ADgitator got a first hand look at an agency that she's never been to - until now. Geile-Leon was kind enough to open its doors to the REBUS organization(a great group sponsored by the Ad Club of St. Louis BTW).
The evening started off with an outside tailgate-style gathering with Tim Leon himself at the grill, cooking up some 'dogs and helping pass out the brewskys. REBUSers were able to nosh on Tim's expert grilling and mingle before the GL team gave the grand tour of their penthouse suite offices which must make those lawyers in the lowly floors below then SO jealous...
Familiar faces and some new ones in the crowd were given the grand tour of the creative side (aptly named the dark side) and the account area before being shown the corner office (and being so jealous) of the drum set contained within. Nice. This folks is what hard work and years of dedication can bring - take note.
After the tour and swapping of the typical humorous industry stories, we were treated to a Q & A session which was most informational. What we learned is this (and what most shops should already know but alas, some still don't get it): If you want to make an impact for your client's brands you've got tot get out there and really find out just "what" the consumer thinks. Sure this seems simple, but GL does this in a way with methodology all their own. Of course, we respect the industry business secrets and would never dish, that's why you'll just have to make it appoint to come to the next REBUS event if you'd like the inside scoop on just how these great shops do what they do.
After the Q &A, the crowd scooted to the common area where a few had portfolios reviewed and others said their goodbyes/thanks. In all, this was a great event and the GL team couldn't have been more welcoming to their guests.
Special thanks to the GL team and Tim, for being the grill master and keeping the crowd fed in addition to sharing industry insight. And a very special thanks to Sarah E.G. Waters and Kendra Pennycuick for coordinating the REBUS event, you gals rock. See you at the next stop!
