Rodgers Townsend: Spirit Of Giving
SAINT LOUIS – Recession? What recession? There’s no cutting back on giving back this year. At local advertising agency, Rodgers Townsend, giving is the hallmark of the season.
Rodgers Townsend is well known for benevolent creative marketing initiatives for area pro bono clients, but during this holiday season, the tradition of charitable giving reaches new heights.
This spirit of giving is intended for non-profit and disadvantaged community members and is closely aligned with the company philosophy at Rodgers Townsend. As one of the largest advertising agencies in St. Louis, Rodgers Townsend develops ideas that transcend creativity, and in an effort to reach out to the community, employees feel compelled to give back through creative and strategic services as well as through monetary relief for those in need.
This year, Rodgers Townsend is giving back with four distinct initiatives:
Employee Giving Program
Every year, 100 percent of Rodgers Townsend employees participate in the United Way through cash donations or automatic payroll deductions. Their 108 employees contributed over $18,000 to the United Way this year.
Family Adoption
Every year, Rodgers Townsend adopts two families from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch 100 Neediest Cases from the neighborhood near our office in downtown St. Louis. In years past, Rodgers Townsend has even been able to obtain special items such as washer/dyers, televisions and bunk beds.
Stock The Shelves
The economic situation means that food pantry shelves are empty earlier than usual, so this year, Rodgers Townsend instigated the first ever “Stock The Shelves” food drive to help a local charity, Sunshine Ministries, fill their pantry. This effort extended beyond the Rodgers Townsend offices to the entire building at 1000 Clark Ave., prompting gifts from other residents of our office space, including JBuck’s sports bar and restaurant, Luxco and Lockheed Martin.
Sunshine Ministries is a nondenominational Christian ministry serving the homeless and needy men, women and children of the near North side of St. Louis through the Sunshine Mission, Youth and Family Center.
Tree Decorating Contest
This year, Rodgers Townsend sponsored an employee tree decorating contest, where our very creative trees will be donated to one of the Neediest Cases families and other charities this holiday season. The trees will not only display the ingenuity and unheard of creativity at this agency, but will also symbolize the spirit of giving that Rodgers Townsend upholds as a cornerstone of their culture.
