St. Louis, MO – January 6, 2008 – Mercury Multimedia, Inc., a film and video production company and public relations agency focused on business results, ended 2008 on a high note, receiving four awards for both their video production and public relations work. In 2008 alone, Mercury Multimedia captured 14 awards.
Mercury took home several awards, an Ava Award and an Omni Award, for their work on a Below the Line segment for the company’s nationally syndicated movie reviews show, cinemattractions. The Below the Line segment is an ongoing feature on cinemattractions that unravels and answers the mysteries of moviemaking, from set design and costuming to music, stunts and more. This award-winning segment delves into the making of monsters for Pan’s Labyrinth, divulging the intricacies of creating both digital and actual costumes. Viewers watch as the design team brings to life characters like The Pale man, starting with a concept and moving to a model and finally a silicon suit and a digital recreation for the actor. From idea to execution in the final film, viewers see how a monster is made.
Mercury also took home a MarCom Award for the company’s work on a marketing video for St. Louis-based Midwest Employers Casualty Company (MECC). Mercury conducted 26 one-on-one interviews of employees and customers, shot and gathered footage of MECC and customer work environments, and created motion graphics for a modern, professional final video. Within weeks of the video's completion, MECC secured two new customers exclusively due to the video, which was sent out as a direct mail DVD. One cold prospect received the DVD and contacted their broker to request a quote from MECC to become a customer. The video remains the most-watched asset on MECC's web site.
“Choosing Mercury Multimedia to work with us on our first major marketing project was one of the best decisions we've ever made,” said Renée A. Lunceford, Director of Marketing, MECC. “They really understood how to communicate our brand using video, and we’re now firm believers in using video marketing to further our efforts in building awareness in the Workers’ Compensation insurance industry and to assist with sales/marketing efforts. We’re allocating additional marketing budget for videos next year, as this video ranks as one of our best marketing projects yet.”
Another MarCom Award went to Mercury for a superior-designed client press kit for Radiant Logic, Inc. that was distributed at DEMOfall 08, a leading technology conference and a launching pad for Radiant Logic’s new software technology. Mercury created a company backgrounder, principal biographies, and product fact sheets with the help of the Radiant Logic marketing team. All materials were available on a 2GB flash drive lanyard that reporters could use and access during and after the event. The press kit summarized key information about Radiant Logic’s product launch and assisted in easy access to media for news stories, which Mercury also raked in for the company.
“Mercury demonstrates a unique understanding of how to impact our clients’ businesses using our creative expertise in different ways for each message we craft, each video we produce and each media outlet we contact on their behalf,” said Angie Lawing, Chief Executive Saleswoman and Executive Producer, Mercury Multimedia. “We bring public relations and marketing knowledge, visual storytelling and film/video capabilities to every client project, and this approach ultimately help our clients increase their visibility and often their customer base, whether we’re building buzz at a technology event or using video to capture the attention of new prospects.”
In 2008, Mercury took home over a dozen awards, including a Summit International Award and a Hermes Creative Award for a documentary that showcased the innovation and achievements of SRI International, a Silicon Valley non-profit research company. McGowan Crain, a St. Louis-based advertising and marketing agency, tasked Mercury to bring their creative vision to life for a new company demo, the “McGowan Crain Experience” which won a Videographer Award. Mercury also won an Aegis Award for a sales and marketing video produced for the PARSA Community Foundation, a non-profit leading Iranian-American philanthropic institution.
Mercury earned recognition for several of its own creative endeavors, including the company’s original television programs and its own demo, “Let Mercury Be Your Messenger,” which won a Telly Award and Hermes Creative Award. For a PRNews’ Platinum PR Award, the Mercury creative team created an original television show - Virtually Open House - to feature online video home tours and act as a teaser to the web site VirtuallyOpenHouse.com. And over the summer, Mercury’s own Chris Lawing, Film Director and President, walked away with Most Creative Film Award and Best Visual Effects Award at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase for directing a music video titled Movie of Your Life, the silver screen debut for music artist Spencer Day.
